Collaboration with ALI DI FIRENZE: set of 4 postcards
The Garance & Marion gallery had the pleasure of creating a set of 4 postcards for Ali di Firenze. We met Alice during a getaway to Venice in November 2023.
Alice explained the reason for this collaboration on her website:
“On our last getaway to Venice in November 2023, the Bande de Fugueuses and I visited Garance and Marion in their lovely gallery in the Cannaregio district.
Recently opened, the gallery is dedicated to graphic arts and offers a canonical selection of works in limited edition, numbered and signed. All at a very affordable price. While wandering around the gallery, I was a bit shocked when I came across some postcards created by the founders depicting Venice in collage.
If you know me, you will know that collages, image montages and moodboards are a bit of a hobby of mine! I immediately wanted the girls to imagine cards that represented my world and the way I “see” some destinations in particular.
So I directed them towards 4 themes: Florence, Venice, Umbria and Pietrasanta, with keywords that referred to the images I had in mind.
I have to say they got it right very quickly. There was no need for much discussion to finalize the proposals (reviewing the proportions, adding an element for balance, etc.) I really like the softness of the colored backgrounds, their idea of old maps and the colored sun, and the way they played with the palettes of the elements.
And we are playing the Venetian card to the max, because even the paper for printing is made with algae from the Venice lagoon! It is an ecological recycling process, which was very important to us."
