"This work represents my mother and the city of Venice at the same time. The first son of three brothers, I was lucky enough to have a very young Venetian mother. Since I was a child, she has always made me explore this wonderful enchanted city, discovering unique and magical places , which I saw through the eyes of a child. I remember colorful carnivals in San Marco, walls scratched by textures that still populate my illustrations today, bells that look like faces, luxuriant gardens and historic buildings. All the museums in Venice saw me and my mother by the hand and entire afternoons spent in campo Santa Margherita playing Campana, drawn with chalk on the slabs of the campo.The woman in my illustration is therefore both Venice and my mother, since Venice itself is also the mother who welcomed me into the her womb."
